TL;DR

  • Among 104,675 scanned domains, 297 contained a reference to one of three selected delivery-date apps: Essential 285, XB 12, and Coder 1, with one overlap.
  • All 297 also had a generic delivery-date marker. Counting the marker as another app would count the same stores twice.
  • Start with Shopify's native checkout dates. For a product page, check Shop Promise eligibility, your theme, and the rules a dedicated app needs to handle.
  • Compare the product message with the shipping policy. Our live example displayed 4–8 business days on the product page and 7–14 for international shipping in its linked policy.

A Shopify estimated delivery date should answer one question: when will this order arrive at this destination? Choose the implementation around the warehouse's processing time, carrier transit time, cutoff, holidays and product exceptions.

We examined StoreInspect's recent scans and a live storefront to compare the work behind that message. The useful decision goes beyond choosing a widget: the product page, shipping policy and checkout need compatible delivery expectations.

How We Collected This Data

On November 4, 2026, we selected each domain's most recent successful full scan from November 2 at 01:00 Oslo through November 4 at 01:00 Oslo, excluding the end. We required a saved app list and excluded records marked confirmed dead. The 104,675-domain sample includes 15,403 empty app lists.

We matched exact names or slugs for Essential Estimated Delivery, Xboost Estimated Delivery and Estimated Delivery Date Plus by Coder. Essential matches came from script detection; XB and Coder matches came from app-block references. Categories and estimated traffic tiers use the store records at extraction.

These are public app references, rather than verified merchant-admin installations or conversion results. Native features, custom code and other providers sit outside the three-app count. A reference can remain when a widget is disabled; non-detection leaves the implementation unknown.

Essential Estimated Delivery2850.272%
XB Estimated Delivery120.011%
Estimated Delivery Date Plus, Coder10.001%
At least one selected identity2970.284%

The rows total 298 because sowears.net had both Essential and Coder references. That record is a useful place to inspect the current customer experience before proposing app consolidation.

The generic Estimated Delivery Date marker appeared on 637 domains, including every one of the 297 selected matches. Its broad script and element rules do not identify a separate provider. The remaining 340 generic-only records need identity research before a vendor-specific pitch.

Fashion provides the largest matched list, while electronics has a higher within-category rate. For an agency, either becomes useful after checking the products, destinations and delivery message the merchant actually offers.

A Live Check: Product Message Versus Shipping Policy

Our November 3 scan of sowears.net contained Essential and Coder references. On November 4, we opened its Marvin Denim Panel Long Dress product page. The Europe-facing page displayed “Fast Delivery (4-8 Business Days)” and loaded an Essential delivery-date script.

The linked Shipping & Delivery Time page listed 24–72 business hours for processing and 7–14 business days for international shipping. Those are two different delivery ranges presented along the same public browsing path.

That gives an agency a specific audit question: which range should a shopper in this market use, and does it include processing time? Check the merchant's destination rules and fulfillment setup before changing either message. Inspect the rendered placements before deciding whether the two app references represent overlapping widgets.

Shopify Estimated Delivery Date Without an App

Set the checkout date first

Shopify's native delivery-date settings support manual and automated dates. Manual dates combine fulfillment time with transit time; automated dates use shipping history. Shopify also supports manual dates as a fallback when an order is ineligible for an automated prediction.

For manual setup:

  1. Open Settings → Shipping and delivery → Estimated delivery dates.
  2. Select Manual, choose the fulfillment time and save.
  3. Set transit times on the applicable shipping rates.
  4. Compare the resulting date with the warehouse's dispatch schedule and carrier service.

Shopify's manual-date documentation uses Monday–Friday business days and a 12:00 cutoff in the shipping origin's local time. It excludes weekends and holidays from fulfillment time. Manual dates do not work with third-party-app shipping rates or negotiated FedEx-calculated rates.

For automated dates, Shopify requires Basic or higher, an eligible fulfillment location and at least one fulfilled domestic order. Eligibility also depends on the order, stock and predicted delivery window. Check those conditions before treating automated dates as the solution for every destination or product.

Check Shop Promise before adding product-page software

Native checkout settings and a product-page placement are separate decisions. Shopify documents delivery information at checkout, accelerated checkout and post-purchase surfaces. Its Shop Promise product-page module can display an estimated arrival date with the badge when automated dates are on.

The current Shop Promise program is free for eligible US stores. Products qualify separately for benefits such as Trusted delivery and returns. Activation requirements include a US fulfillment location shipping to the US, Shop Pay, and tracking on at least 90% of eligible orders.

For a straightforward text message, inspect the theme's product-information blocks. A fixed shipping statement can use an existing text block. A date that changes with cutoffs, destinations and products needs calculation rules, whether supplied by a supported theme feature, custom development or an app.

Shopify Estimated Delivery Date Apps: Costs and Rules

Essential / Essent Estimated Delivery Date1,000 monthly views; all listed features$4.99/month for 5,000 views, $9.99 for 15,000, $24.99 for unlimited views. Lists processing time, cutoffs, holidays, market targeting and translations. Budget by widget views.
C‑EDD: Estimated Delivery Date, Coder100-product quota, one holiday, global settingsBasic $4.98/month lists a 1,000-product quota and country/language settings. Pro $8.98 lists unlimited product, category, country, language and holiday quotas. Budget by catalog and rule requirements.
XB Estimated Delivery Date EDDFreeLists product/cart estimates, processing time, cutoffs, holidays and geolocation targeting. Compare those controls with your required destinations and placements.

Essential's view-based tiers and Coder's product/holiday quotas price different things. A small catalog with frequent product-page views can reach one limit before the other. XB offers a free starting point for the listed rules.

For an implementation quote, write down the required product, cart and checkout placements separately. Test the required checkout extension on the merchant's Shopify plan and purchase paths.

If customers need to choose an arrival day or time slot, use the local delivery and pickup comparison. A scheduling calendar and a parcel-delivery estimate solve different jobs. For communications after dispatch, see shipping and tracking apps.

An Agency Audit for Delivery Estimates

Use a detected reference to prepare a focused inspection in StoreInspect, then scope the work around the merchant's actual fulfillment rules:

  1. Define the interval. Record whether the message describes dispatch, carrier transit or arrival. Confirm whether processing time is included.
  2. Test cutoff boundaries. In a staging store, compare an order immediately before and after cutoff, including the warehouse's timezone and daylight-saving changes.
  3. Test non-working days. Include a Friday, a weekend, a blocked holiday and the first working day after it. Separate warehouse days from carrier service days.
  4. Test product exceptions. Check preorders, made-to-order items, different fulfillment locations and mixed baskets. The slowest item can change the promise for the whole parcel.
  5. Compare markets and messages. Check product text, cart, shipping policy, checkout and confirmation for the same destination. If a free-shipping bar names a country, check that audience too.
  6. Assign one owner to each message. Investigate overlapping app references and native modules. Keep one intended source for each delivery promise and remove obsolete copy through the merchant's approved workflow.

For outreach, lead with a verified observation, such as two different ranges along one browsing path. Ask how the merchant calculates the promise, then qualify the operational need before proposing an app or configuration project.

FAQ

How do I add an estimated delivery date to Shopify?

Set fulfillment time and delivery dates under Settings → Shipping and delivery. Manual dates use fulfillment and transit time; automated dates use shipping history for eligible orders. Then choose the product-page placement separately.

Can Shopify show a delivery date on the product page without an app?

Yes. Shop Promise's product-page module can show an estimated arrival date with its badge when automated delivery dates are enabled. Check store and product eligibility. Supported theme features and custom development are other options.

Which free Shopify estimated delivery date app should I consider?

Essential provides 1,000 monthly views on its free tier. Coder's free tier has a 100-product quota and one holiday. XB lists a free app with cutoff, holiday and geolocation controls. Choose around the required rules and placements.

Is an estimated delivery date the same as a delivery-date picker?

No. An estimate communicates when a parcel is expected to arrive. A picker lets the customer select a date or slot and needs availability, capacity and preparation rules.
