TL;DR

  • Our October 27–28 scan panel contained 136,170 domains. 151 matched selected Route or Seel references: 81 Route and 70 Seel, with no overlap. These are public signals, not verified active installations or market shares.
  • 141 of the 151 matched domains were in our lowest estimated traffic tier. The data offers a small inspection pool, not evidence that protection is missing from everyone else.
  • Choose who manages claims and funds approved resolutions before comparing widgets. Route and Seel offer provider-managed programs; Navidium supplies tools for a merchant's own protection offering.
  • Route advertises $0/month for its standard shopper-funded configuration and custom pricing for other arrangements. Navidium lists $0 up to 50 orders/month, then paid order bands. Neither number describes the shopper's total cost or a merchant's complete economics.

Shopify shipping protection apps can put similar-looking offers in a cart while creating different work for the merchant. The useful comparison is who receives a claim, who funds an approved resolution, what the shopper buys and how that offer behaves in the existing cart.

We connected StoreInspect's recent provider signals with current publisher documentation and a public Flair Espresso policy check. A detected name helps find an account to inspect. It does not tell you the merchant's contract, claims results or reasons to switch.

How We Collected This Data

On October 29, 2026, we selected each domain's most recent full-store scan that completed successfully between October 27 at 01:00 Oslo and October 29 at 01:00 Oslo, with the end excluded. We required a saved app list and excluded records currently marked confirmed dead. The 136,170-domain panel includes 17,784 empty app lists, which remain in the denominator. Full-store describes a scanning mode, not an inspection of every page.

We matched explicit normalized name and slug aliases for Route Package Protection and Seel Worry-Free Purchase, then deduplicated domains per provider and across both. The retained query, extraction timestamp and output document the exact rules.

Route's references came from 52 app-block detections and 29 script detections. Seel's came from 61 script, five inline-code, three page-element and one JavaScript-global detection. These methods identify public references with different levels of specificity. They do not establish that an offer is enabled, a policy was purchased or a claim would be approved.

This is a selected recent panel, not a random Shopify sample. Other providers, custom tools, consent-dependent code and integrations outside the pages visited can be missed. References can remain after use or be misidentified. Detector versions were unrecorded throughout the panel, and we did not independently measure precision or recall. Traffic and categories use current store-record values at extraction; traffic tiers are estimates, not order counts.

The small percentages describe our two selected identities in this specific panel. They do not mean the remaining domains lack shipping protection. Navidium and other products are outside this measured group; their absence from this table is not a zero-installation finding.

Only 10 matched domains were above the lowest tier. The eight-domain highest tier is too small to characterize large stores. Do not turn the zero in that row into a recommendation about enterprise adoption.

The largest matched categories were Fashion: 41 of 34,562 panel domains, Electronics: 23 of 5,433 and Home & Garden: 21 of 18,124. Fashion supplies more inspection candidates, while electronics has a higher within-category match rate in this panel. Neither finding measures parcel losses, claim costs or purchase intent. For an agency, that distinction matters: inspect the shipping workflow before deciding whether a store needs help.

Shopify Shipping Protection Apps: Models and Costs

These publisher facts were checked on October 29, 2026. Prices below use monthly USD billing where stated. This is a shortlist by operating model, not a performance ranking, installation test or complete provider directory.

OptionPublished monthly price or modelClaims model
RouteFree installation; external charges may apply. Standard shopper-funded: $0/month. Other arrangements: custom pricing.Provider-managed protected-order claims; confirm the program and merchant agreement.
Seel Worry-Free PurchaseListing: Free. Seel describes a shopper protection fee.Seel handles claims directly, subject to purchased benefits and applicable terms.
Navidium Shipping ProtectionFree up to 50 orders/month. $29.99 up to 500; $49.99 up to 1,000; $99.99 unlimited.Merchant-managed; publisher does not underwrite claims.

Route: confirm the funding arrangement

Route's pricing page distinguishes its standard shopper-funded configuration from custom arrangements, which can include flat-fee, volume-based and shopper-funded options. It also mentions eligibility for a Merchant Incentive Program. Do not assume every merchant pays the same amount or receives the same share of fees.

Its shopper claims guidance distinguishes protected transit incidents from problems such as an incorrect delivery address, manufacturing defects or an order still awaiting shipment. Get the applicable policy and support routing into the implementation brief. A tracking link alone does not answer those questions.

Seel: identify the actual purchased program

Seel's product page describes a shopper-funded post-purchase program. Its shopper resources distinguish shipping issues, returns and extended warranties, and direct shoppers to Seel for claims.

The Worry-Free Purchase terms say the purchased features are identified at checkout and in the confirmation email. They also describe merchant-specific variations. A storefront reference to Seel therefore cannot establish which benefits any particular shopper receives. Ask for the merchant's configuration and an authorized test confirmation before writing the customer-facing explanation.

Navidium's listing describes a self-service offering where the merchant retains collected protection fees and manages claims. It explicitly says it does not underwrite them. Its listing also says paid plans automatically move up when their order allowance is exceeded.

For a merchant evaluating that model, compare collected fees with the subscription, approved resolutions, replacement shipping and support work. StoreInspect cannot supply those private figures from a public scan. Ask which orders count for billing and how high-volume periods affect the plan. The app's subscription price is only one input.

Firsthand Check: Flair Espresso's Claims Instructions

Flair Espresso is in our panel, with a Route reference recorded on October 28 at 10:10 Oslo. On October 29, we opened its public shipping policy in a browser and inspected the Route section.

The page directs protected-order claims to Route and links to its claims portal. It also describes different treatment for a refund and a reorder: its published refund explanation excludes some charges that its reorder explanation includes. These are the merchant's stated instructions, not a result we tested.

That is information an app count cannot supply. An agency can inspect whether the merchant's own help content makes the claim destination and resolution differences clear, then confirm those instructions against the current agreement. The page's description of how protection is added also requires a separate authorized cart test; reading it does not verify the live default or removal behavior.

Our observation confirms a public explanation and linked claim destination. We did not enter checkout, buy protection, submit a claim or assess whether that policy is legally sufficient. We make no claim about approval speed, customer outcomes or the current widget's behavior.

An Agency Workflow for Inspecting Protection

Use the 151 matched domains as a defined research pool, then narrow it to the merchant types you serve. The 41 fashion matches and 23 electronics matches are concrete starting groups in this extraction, not ready-to-contact lists or proof of a problem.

  1. Verify the account and provider reference. Check the current public site. Regional storefronts can belong to the same business; deduplicate brands before outreach. Do not pitch an installation merely because another provider was not detected.
  2. Read the shipping and returns instructions. Record who handles a lost parcel, an incorrect address, a damaged item and a change-of-mind return. Our shipping and tracking guide separates those systems, while the returns guide covers the separate returns workflow.
  3. Review the offer in an authorized test store. Check the cart drawer, cart page, device sizes and supported payment paths. Verify the price, shopper choice, removal behavior and confirmation. Do not assume a theme change preserves the integration.
  4. Confirm the commercial and support setup with the merchant. Obtain applicable terms, billing counts, claim costs and escalation ownership. For order changes, agree how cancellations and refunds affect the protection line; see our order-editing guide.
  5. Scope the work around an observed need. A mismatched help link or an unclear claim route can justify a specific review. A visible vendor name cannot establish dissatisfaction, a budget or a reason to migrate.

FAQ

What is the best Shopify shipping protection app?

Choose by the required operating model and integration. Route and Seel offer provider-managed programs with their own terms. Navidium describes tools for a merchant-managed offering. Our 151 detected references do not establish which produces better claims or sales outcomes.

Are Shopify shipping protection apps free?

Some listings show free installation or an order-limited free plan. Route advertises a $0/month standard shopper-funded configuration; Seel describes a shopper protection fee; Navidium lists a free allowance up to 50 orders/month. Confirm shopper charges, merchant billing and responsibility for resolutions separately.

Is shipping protection the same as shipping insurance?

The label alone does not establish who provides coverage or pays a claim. Navidium says it does not underwrite claims. Seel's terms describe its insurance-backed structure. Read the actual program terms and identify the responsible parties before describing an offer to shoppers.

Does detecting Route or Seel prove an order is protected?

No. Public code can identify a research candidate without proving an enabled offer or purchased protection. Confirm the applicable items, shopper selection, order confirmation and program terms. Non-detection also cannot prove that a store lacks protection.
