TL;DR
- Check your theme first. A native drawer may already handle the cart without another app.
- Our seven-day panel contained 214,241 domains. 1,728 (0.81%) matched at least one of four selected cart-app identities. This measures covered public signals, not the share of Shopify stores with a drawer.
- Essent's listed free allowance is 30 orders per month. iCart's is the first 100 orders over its lifetime. AMP lists a basic free drawer and a $29.99/month Growth plan.
- UpCart was unavailable for new App Store installation when we checked on October 16, 2026. Old pricing snippets are unsuitable for planning a new installation.
Shopify cart drawer apps add offer rules and presentation controls to the panel shoppers open before checkout. Choosing one starts with a specific requirement: a free-shipping target, a gift rule, complementary products or a different cart layout. A drawer by itself may already be part of your theme.
We compared current publisher listings with StoreInspect's recent storefront observations. The useful distinction is between a visible app signature, an actual customer-facing drawer and a feature worth paying for. Our Big Agnes check below connects the first two; the merchant's requirements and results decide the third.
How We Collected This Data
On October 16, 2026, we selected each domain's most recent successful full-store scan in the seven-day window from October 9 at 10:45 Oslo to October 16 at 10:45 Oslo, with the end excluded. We excluded scans limited to change monitoring and records currently marked confirmed dead. That left 214,241 domains, including 21,746 successful scans with no recorded app detections. Those scans stayed in the denominator.
We matched finite name/slug aliases for AMP Slide Cart, Essent Cart Drawer, iCart and UpCart, then counted each domain once per provider and once in the combined group. In the retained output, the raw labels were Slide Cart, Essential Cart Drawer, iCart and UpCart. The generic Cart Drawer theme marker was excluded.
This is a selected panel of recently scanned domains, not a random sample of all Shopify merchants. It omits other cart apps, unrecognized implementations and native theme drawers. Consent, page selection, leftover code and false matches can affect detection. Detector versions were not recorded, so this panel cannot establish changes in adoption over time. We retained the extraction instructions, collection timestamp and exact provider counts with the research.
Traffic groups use the store record's estimated monthly traffic tier at extraction. They are separate from measured orders, revenue or app billing. Publisher plans and the public storefront example were checked on October 16, 2026; we did not install these apps or measure their conversion performance.
Shopify Cart Drawer Apps vs Theme Drawers
Shopify's theme-settings documentation describes drawer, page and popup cart styles. On a supported theme, start at Theme settings → Cart → Cart type. Confirm the options in your own theme and version. Dawn is one example to inspect before buying a replacement.
| Requirement | First thing to evaluate |
|---|---|
| Show cart contents while the shopper stays on the current page | Your theme's drawer setting |
| Change colors, spacing or basic cart notes | Existing theme settings and a scoped theme change |
| Show an amount remaining until free shipping | A supported theme feature or an app with the required progress rule |
| Add a qualifying gift or conditional product recommendation | The app's actual offer logic, discount handling and subscription compatibility |
| Present an offer after payment | A separate upsell placement, rather than a drawer requirement |
A progress bar needs to agree with the shipping or discount rule that applies to the shopper. Check currency, destination, product exclusions and what happens after removing an item. A bar that reaches its target does not itself establish that the order qualifies for free shipping.
For gift and quantity mechanics, use the discount app guide alongside the drawer comparison. Decide which tool owns the offer before adding another interface to it.
Shopify Cart Drawer Apps: Current Plans
These are USD monthly listing prices checked October 16, 2026. The shortlist covers the available products among the four identities in our study. It is a comparison of documented plans, not a performance ranking or a complete market directory.
| Option | Free allowance in the current listing | Listed paid entry | Requirement worth evaluating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essent Cart Drawer | 30 orders/month; all features included | $8.99/month for 99 orders; $13.99 for 199; $23.99 for 499 | Start with upsells and rewards at low volume, then price the applicable order band |
| AMP Slide Cart | Basic drawer customization, announcements and discount-code box | Growth $29.99/month; Pro $49.99/month | A flat listed paid price with different offer/design features by plan |
| iCart | First 100 orders free over the app's lifetime | $9/month at 0–100 orders; $19 at 101–200; $29 at 201–500 | Drawer, popup or full-cart presentation with order-based billing |
Essent: distinguish the monthly allowance from a trial
The current listing includes the drawer, upsells, reward bar and sticky add-to-cart within its free 30-order monthly allowance. Higher order bands increase the bill while the listing says features remain included. Its listed 14-day paid-plan trial is separate from the ongoing free allowance.
Before budgeting, confirm which orders count toward your plan and the tier above your normal volume. A busy promotion can move a store beyond the entry tier.
AMP: price the required offer, not only the drawer
AMP lists a free styling-focused plan. Growth adds upsells and a rewards progress bar at $29.99/month; Pro lists additional cart designs and free-gift functionality at $49.99/month. Its paid-plan descriptions state that the price does not increase with sales.
Write down the exact gift, discount or subscription behavior you need and check the appropriate plan. A free drawer does not establish that the required offer rule is free.
iCart: the first 100 orders are a lifetime allowance
iCart's listing describes its initial allowance as the first 100 orders free for lifetime. Treat that differently from a recurring 100-order monthly free plan. The paid order bands list the same broad feature set, including cart recommendations, bundles and volume discounts.
Ask the vendor how it counts orders and changes tiers. Confirm the cart presentation you will enable; a drawer, popup and full cart are different customer paths.
UpCart: check availability before planning a migration
On October 16, 2026, the UpCart App Store page displayed an availability notice and directed support questions to Rokt. It offered no installation control. We therefore exclude it from the new-install shortlist and do not repeat historical prices as a current quote.
Our research still found nine UpCart-labelled domains. Public code can remain observable when a product is unavailable to new customers. The notice does not establish why availability changed or whether an existing merchant's implementation works; those questions require the publisher and merchant.
What Our Cart Drawer Data Shows
The four provider groups total 1,741 matches across 1,728 distinct domains. Thirteen domains matched two providers, which explains the difference.
| Provider identity | Matched domains | Share of the 214,241-domain panel |
|---|---|---|
| AMP Slide Cart | 691 | 0.32% |
| Essent Cart Drawer | 663 | 0.31% |
| iCart | 378 | 0.18% |
| UpCart | 9 | 0.004% |
| At least one of the four | 1,728 | 0.81% |
AMP was the largest matched identity in this finite panel. The differences do not establish overall installation share or product quality: coverage varies by provider, and the query excludes every app outside the four defined identities.
Match rates by estimated traffic
| Estimated monthly traffic | Panel domains | Domains matching a selected cart app | Match rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 50K | 208,262 | 1,611 | 0.77% |
| 50K+ | 5,979 | 117 | 1.96% |
The selected signatures appeared more frequently in the estimated-50K+ group. That can help an integration vendor choose a research segment, but traffic does not reveal order volume, purchasing budget or the benefit of replacing a cart. Only 23 panel domains were in the 1M+ estimated tiers, too few for a useful enterprise comparison.
Two signatures are a review cue
The overlapping pairs were AMP/iCart on six domains, Essent/iCart on four and AMP/Essent on three. We did not verify that these stores paid for two tools, displayed both drawers or experienced conflicts.
For an agency, use a co-detection to inspect ownership: which integration opens the drawer, updates quantities and applies the offer? Leftover code or an incomplete migration can look like two active products. Confirm the active configuration before recommending removal. The broader app-bloat study explains why signature counts cannot substitute for a functional review.
A Verified Storefront: Big Agnes
The study recorded a Slide Cart match for bigagnes.com in a successful scan on October 16, 2026. We then opened the Big Agnes homepage in a fresh browser session, rejected optional cookies and clicked the header's cart control.
An empty drawer opened with a Cart heading, a close button and the message Your cart is empty. The rendered container used the slidecarthq identifier; public script paths also included App HQ's Slide Cart distribution and a Shopify Slide Cart extension asset.
This verifies a visible drawer alongside the recorded provider signal on that date. It gives a reviewer something concrete to reproduce before discussing implementation. We did not add a product, enter checkout, access the merchant's administration or test offers, billing, conversion lift or mobile performance. The example is not an endorsement of the store's complete cart setup.
A Cart Drawer Review for Agencies
Use StoreInspect to find a relevant recorded stack, then verify the current customer journey. A nondetection is insufficient reason to pitch a new cart app because the theme or custom code may already meet the requirement.
For an authorized review of a merchant's own store, work through these checks in a preview theme before changing the live cart:
- Identify the drawer owner. Confirm whether the theme or an app controls it. Check product-page and quick-add entry points, then quantity changes, removal and the empty state.
- Test the specific offer. Include eligible and excluded products, gift qualification, subscription items and removal below a reward threshold. Confirm the displayed total and the rule applied at checkout.
- Check regional behavior. Test the currencies, destinations and shipping conditions the merchant actually supports. Keep displayed reward amounts aligned with the applicable rules.
- Check mobile and keyboard use. Verify that the drawer fits the viewport, scrolls, closes and returns focus appropriately. Check that its content does not hide the route to checkout.
- Confirm the commercial decision. Price the required feature and realistic order band. Agree on a primary outcome, performance checks and a rollback plan before launch. Use the A/B testing guide when a controlled comparison is practical.
For app sellers, a verified provider match is useful for compatibility research and merchant interviews. Ask which cart task remains difficult and who maintains it. The 13 overlap records are possible review candidates, not 13 confirmed consolidation sales.
FAQ
Do I need an app for a Shopify cart drawer?
Check your theme first. Supported themes can offer a native drawer through their cart settings. Evaluate a separate app when an identified offer or presentation requirement remains unmet.
Which Shopify cart drawer app is free?
As checked October 16, 2026, Essent lists 30 orders free per month, AMP lists a basic free drawer and iCart lists its first 100 orders free over the app's lifetime. Compare the required features and the paid tier you would reach at normal volume.
Is UpCart still available to install?
The public App Store page we checked on October 16, 2026 showed an unavailable notice and no installation control. Contact the publisher for current distribution and existing-store support. A stored UpCart signature does not establish new-install availability.
Does a missing cart-app signature mean a store has no drawer?
No. Theme-native drawers, custom implementations and apps outside the selected detector identities can all be missed by this query. Open the current storefront and inspect its actual cart behavior.
Do cart drawer apps increase conversion or average order value?
This study did not measure either outcome. Evaluate the proposed feature against the merchant's existing experience, including completed orders, contribution after discounts and costs, checkout progression and page performance. A higher detected match rate in a traffic group cannot establish an app's effect.
